Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using Portaim.
What file formats are supported?
CSV, XLSX, and XLS files. You can upload them or paste a link — a Google Drive share, a Google Sheet, a Dropbox link, or any public file URL — and pick the specific sheet and header row during upload.
Can I import a WooCommerce product export?
Yes. Upload the CSV you exported from WooCommerce (Products → Export) and Portaim recognises it and converts it to Shopify's format before mapping — parent and variation rows become products and variants, attributes become options, image lists become galleries, and categories become tags and a product type. You can review what changed and switch back to the original file at any time.
Can I import products without publishing them?
Yes. On the export step, switch on Import as Draft and every product is created unpublished — on both the direct Shopify export and the downloaded CSV — so you can review them in Shopify before they go live.
Do I need a Shopify store to use Portaim?
No. You can use Portaim to clean and validate your product data, then download a Shopify-ready CSV. Connecting your Shopify store for direct export is optional.
How does AI column mapping work?
When you upload a file, Portaim analyzes your column headers and sample data, then suggests which Shopify field each column maps to. Common columns (like 'title', 'price', 'sku') are matched automatically. Less obvious ones get AI-powered suggestions that you can accept, adjust, or skip.
What validation rules are checked?
Portaim runs 40+ Shopify-specific rules covering required fields, allowed values (e.g. product status must be active/draft/archived), format checks (prices, weights, URLs), length limits, and cross-field consistency. Each issue shows the exact cell, what's wrong, and how to fix it.
How do I connect my Shopify store?
Go to Settings in the app, enter your store's .myshopify.com domain, and click Connect. You'll be redirected to Shopify to authorize access. Portaim requests only the permissions needed to create and update products.
What happens if an export to Shopify fails?
Portaim shows you exactly which products failed and why (e.g. duplicate handle, missing required field on Shopify's side). You can fix the issues and re-export. Successfully exported products are not affected.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Files are stored in secure cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) with time-limited presigned URLs. Shopify tokens are encrypted with AES-256. Your data is never shared with third parties or used for training. See our privacy policy for details.
What are the free plan limits?
10 imports per month and 1,500 rows per month. Limits reset at the start of each month.
What does Portaim cost?
Portaim is free with all features included. There are no paid plans, trials, or charges of any kind.
How do I cancel or delete my account?
You can delete your account from the Settings page in the app, or contact us at [email protected]. If you have an active Shopify subscription, cancel it first from Settings. All your data — including uploaded files, imports, and Shopify connections — is permanently deleted immediately.
